President Trump said the outcome of the US-Iran war would be simple 11 weeks ago – no deal unless there was “unconditional surrender”.
Since then it’s been rather more complicated, with the last 24 hours showing just that. Despite the US Secretary of State claiming that “significant progress” had been made, President Trump then told his diplomats not to rush into a deal.

A Republican senator criticised any nuclear material staying in Iran. And one Democrat senator said Trump was being “played like a fool”.
