MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Customs (BOC) boosted collections from its Fuel Marking Program (FMP) by nearly 15 percent to more than P93 billion from January to April as it intensified efforts to monitor oil importation and fight smuggling amid the energy crisis.
A document seen by the Inquirer showed that the program generated a total of P93.11 billion in duties and excise taxes during the first four months of the year. The revenues were generated from the marking of over 7.012 billion liters of fuel.
The latest figure was 14.75 percent higher than the P81.14 billion recorded in the same period last year, while the volume of marked fuel likewise increased by 2.87 percent from 6.816 billion liters.
