The autobiography of former Governor and senior BJP leader Bandaru Dattatreya, “Prajala Kathe Naa Atmakatha”, was launched at the Kakatiya Convention Centre in Maddilapalem here on Sunday.Governor of Odisha Kambhampati Hari Babu attended the programme as the chief guest while Bheemili MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao, BJP MLC Somu Veerraju, former Rajya Sabha member G.V.L. Narasimha Rao, former Minister Gudivada Amarnath and former YSRCP MLA Karanam Dharmasri, besides BJP leaders from North Andhra were also present.Speaking on the occasion, Governor of Odisha Hari Babu described Mr. Dattatreya as a leader who emerged from among the people and overcame hardships and setbacks through perseverance. He said Mr. Dattatreya’s contribution during the Diviseema cyclone and his efforts to uphold democratic values would remain an inspiration for future generations.Mr. Srinivasa Rao said that despite being in public life for decades, Mr. Dattatreya remained a leader without adversaries. Referring to the annual ‘Alai Balai’ gathering associated with the former Governor, he said organising a similar platform in North Andhra would help bring leaders from different political parties together.Addressing the gathering, Mr. Dattatreya said politics and business should not be viewed merely as avenues for profit, but as sacred responsibilities centred on public service. He observed that though several leaders with ideals and values continued to remain in politics, ethical standards in public life were gradually declining. Published - May 24, 2026 08:41 pm IST
