As part of efforts to promote exports from Wayanad, a workshop titled ‘Wayanad to the World’ was held at Kalpetta recently.The workshop was jointly organised by the Kerala Exporters Forum, Wayanad Chamber of Commerce, Wayanad MLA Care, and Canara Bank.It was inaugurated by Agriculture Minister T. Siddique. Speaking at the event, Mr. Siddique said the session would help farmers secure better market prices for their produce by introducing Wayanad’s unique value-added products to international markets. He added that the programme would be highly beneficial for farmers who remain closely connected to agriculture and the land.Among those who addressed the gathering were Vijaya Lakshmi, head of the Commercial Division of Canara Bank; Sangeetha Viswanathan, chairperson of the Spices Board India; M. Karuthamani, joint director of the Coffee Board; and R.K. Sinha. Experts from various fields also made presentations and spoke on different aspects of exports and value addition.Kerala Exporters Forum president K.M. Hameed Ali presided. Usha Vijayan, MLA; Kerala Exporters Forum secretary Munshid Ali; Wayanad Chamber of Commerce president Johny Pattani; and Wayanad MLA Care chief coordinator Kabir were among those present.
