YEREVAN, May 24. /TASS/. Armenia is always interested in preserving and developing normal relations with Russia, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan told news.am.

"We are always interested in preserving and developing normal cooperation with Russia. At this stage, if an official dislikes such a relationship, we need to try to explain what partnership and non-partnership is about," he said. "We gain nothing from ‘non-partnership,’ and, I think, so do they."

At the same time, the minister stopped short of linking the state of bilateral relations with Russia with the upcoming June 7 parliamentary elections.

"I would not condition anything to the electoral factor. We continue to build what we believe healthy and - in our understanding - equal relations should be with our Russian partners in a constructive atmosphere. Problems can emerge, it’s true," he said, adding that his country is "trying to explain, understand, find a solution, and so on."
