Saraya, the daughter of a former Chief of Army Staff, Theophilus Danjuma, was traditionally joined to her partner, Bawa Salka, in a grand ceremony held last weekend at the family residence on Banana Island, Lagos.

The event began inside the family’s living room, where traditional northern rites were performed to formally unite the couple. The bride wore an elaborate traditional outfit complete with a statement headpiece, while the groom appeared in a white ensemble complemented by a colourful cap.

Following the completion of the rites, celebrations moved into a specially decorated hall within the residence, adorned with large portraits of the couple. Guests were ushered into the space in a lively atmosphere marked by elegance and excitement.

The traditional wedding attracted a high-profile gathering of political, military and business elites, with heightened security around the exclusive waterfront estate. This was followed by a wedding solemnisation ceremony and a grand reception staged inside a purpose-built marquee. The venue featured cinematic lighting and immersive digital displays that added a modern, theatrical dimension to the celebration.

At the centre of the occasion was the bride’s mother, Daisy Danjuma, who was seen warmly receiving guests and interacting with dignitaries throughout the event.
