Law enforcement in Kyiv has served suspicion notices to three members of an organized group accused of embezzling more than UAH 4.1 million during procurement of medical materials for a state healthcare institution.

According to Ukrinform, this was reported by the Kyiv City National Police.

Investigators found that the organizer of the scheme was an official from the state institution F.G. Yanovsky National Scientific Center of Phthisiology, Pulmonology and Allergology, who involved the director of a supplier company and a procurement manager from the same firm.

The suspects allegedly coordinated tender conditions, technical specifications, and inflated prices in advance. To ensure a specific company’s victory, the tender documentation included requirements that effectively excluded other participants from competition, police said.

More than 10 contracts were signed between the medical institution and the private company for the supply of medical materials, including face masks and syringes, at inflated prices.
