According to the police, the incident occurred in the early hours of Friday when suspected armed kidnappers intercepted two commercial Hummer buses conveying passengers from Benue State to Ibadan.

The Ondo State Police Command has said that its operatives, in collaboration with local hunters, rescued 12 kidnap victims following a violent abduction incident involving passengers travelling through the Isua Akoko area of the state.

According to the police, the incident occurred in the early hours of Friday when suspected armed kidnappers intercepted two commercial Hummer buses conveying passengers from Benue State to Ibadan.

In a statement issued on Saturday by the Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the attackers forced several passengers out of the vehicles and marched them into a nearby forest after ambushing the buses around 1:30am.

Jimoh said the Command immediately launched a coordinated rescue operation involving police operatives, local hunters, and other security stakeholders after receiving a distress report about the attack.
