Greek long jumper Miltos Tentoglou, a two-time Olympic gold medalist and reigning Olympic champion, claimed victory at the prestigious Diamond League meeting in Xiamen, China, on Saturday with a leap of 8.46 meters, matching the best mark in the world this year.
Tentoglou, who won Olympic gold at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and again at the 2024 Paris Olympics, produced the winning jump on his third attempt, equaling the season-leading performance previously set by Portugal’s Gerson Balde.
Jamaica’s Tajay Gayle finished second with a jump of 8.32 meters, while Bulgaria’s Bozhidar Saraboyukov placed third with 8.28 meters.
The Diamond League is an annual circuit of elite track-and-field competitions made up of 15 invitational meets held around the world.
