Usyk and Verhoeven confirm readiness for main event at official weigh-in ceremony for ‘Glory in Giza’

CAIRO: The preamble and ceremonies for “Glory in Giza” concluded on Friday night at the Grand Egyptian Museum with the official weigh-in ceremony for the fighters competing in the highly anticipated card on Saturday night.

The showcase event, part of Riyadh Season, will take place at the Pyramids of Giza.

The official weigh-ins saw all participating fighters successfully make weight for their respective bouts. Leading the lineup were the two fighters facing off in the main event: Ukrainian heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk and Dutch kickboxing king Rico Verhoeven.

Usyk and Verhoeven’s successful weigh-ins further intensified anticipation for the headline bout, particularly given the contrasting nature of the matchup. Usyk enters with vast experience inside professional boxing rings and a decorated legacy as one of the heavyweight division’s elite champions, while Verhoeven steps into the contest with a different combat background after establishing himself as one of the greatest kickboxing champions of all time.
