SAPS intercepts alleged drug mule en route to Germany at OR Tambo.
A Dutch national has been arrested at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg after being found in possession of a large amount of Khat during an intelligence-driven operation conducted this week, said the South African Police Service (SAPS).
Police said the suspect was en route from South Africa to Frankfurt, Germany, when he was intercepted before departure.
During a search of his luggage, officers discovered more than 40 kilograms of Khat, with an estimated street value of approximately R240,000.
"The drugs have an estimated street value of R240,000," said Lieutenant Colonel Amanda van Wyk.
