The homeowner grew sick of the annoying neighbours who kept rolling trash bins onto their driveway – but they sure showed them a lesson after getting the last laugh08:41, 23 May 2026Neighbour rows are not unheard of these days. Often you might have a neighbour demanding you silly things, like getting rid of your dogs so the kids can play in the garden.Disputes happen all the time – and while some can be solved like responsible adults, others require a little bit of revenge along the way. Now one homeowner couldn't help unleash a sprinkle of petty revenge when the kids across the street wouldn't stop rolling their trash bin onto their driveway. In some cases, you'd involve the police but this person took matters into their own hands.Speaking about the situation on a popular Reddit forum, the homeowner said: "The small rental across the street from my house is being rented by a young group of people."They always have 5-6 cars outside of their house, driveway filled, all times of the day. I place my two trash bins in my driveway before pick-up. Shortly after, I found a third bin wedged right in between them, stuff spilling out, can't keep it closed."After growing suspicious of the unusual activity, the homeowner, thought to be from the US, decided to check their cameras and as predicted, it's the kids across the street. They continued: "I check my camera, sure enough, I see them pull it across the street to my driveway. I decided to roll the bin down the street to a local park."I get charged extra if there are more bins to dump. I woke up early the next morning. Their trash did get dumped, I'm guessing they thought it was a city bin. But it was already partially full of trash again, and they're currently missing their bin."After sharing the situation, the post garnered 1,300 upvotes and dozens of comments. One said: "Trashy neighbours you got there. Revenge was simple and to the point. One could hope they'll learn from it, but I have doubts about that."Another added: "I hope you threw it all over their yard. It's their s***, they can deal with it the right way."A third suggested: "Relocate it. Far, far away. Take some time to do this and leave it where they will never find it."What are the bin laws in the UK?In the UK, bins must be placed at the property boundary by 6am on collection days and unauthorised use of someone else's trash is illegal. As waste collection is managed locally, there are different collection schedules, bin colours and specific banned or unaccepted items.Putting the wrong items in recycling bins is known as "contamination" and can result in the council refusing to collect the bin, or fines up to £400.Article continues belowWhile putting rubbish in a neighbour's bin without their explicit permission is a criminal offence classified as fly-tipping.Using public street bins to dispose of household rubbish is illegal and also counts as fly-tipping.You can confirm your exact collection days, order bins and find your nearest tip using the GOV.UK Council Finder website.
