The young Kiwi who was accepted to Harvard University in 2020 is nearing the end of her journey there, but not before picking up a prestigious award.
Jess Jenkins (Ngāti Kahungunu ki Tāmaki nui-a-Rua), 23, has been recognised for her exceptional undergraduate work and was a recipient of the Captain Jonathan Fay Prize.
Four senior students, including Jenkins, were selected among 71 Harvard College seniors, all winners of the Thomas Temple Hoopes Prize in recognition of outstanding scholarly research from undergraduate students, Harvard Radcliffe Institute said.
Jenkins told Stuff that receiving the Hoopes Prize was already a massive win and shock.
It wasn’t until a week later when Jenkins found out she was a Fay Prize winner.
