The association described the claim as false, baseless and misleading, insisting that negotiations between the government and health sector unions were still ongoing.
The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has dismissed reports alleging that the Bola Tinubu-led government suspended ongoing Collective Bargaining Agreement negotiations with stakeholders in the health sector until after the 2027 general elections.
The association described the claim as false, baseless and misleading, insisting that negotiations between the government and health sector unions were still ongoing.
In a disclaimer issued by the National Officers Committee of the NMA and signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Prof Olayinka Atilola, the association said it had obtained an official written clarification from the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment denying the alleged suspension.
“The attention of the NMA NOC has been drawn to a circulating rumor that the ongoing Collective Bargaining Agreement has been suspended till after the 2027 general elections,” the statement read.
