The absence of rival candidates’ representatives further fuelled allegations that the process lacked transparency and legitimacy.
Fresh controversy has erupted in Adamawa State after former Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) boss, Ahmed Tijjani Galadima, was declared winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election amid widespread allegations that no actual voting took place across the state.
Galadima was announced winner of the exercise by the Chairman of the APC Governorship Primary Election Committee, Professor Innocent Bariko, who declared that the former PTDF chief polled a staggering 414,444 votes to defeat his closest rival, Abdulrazak Namdas, who reportedly secured 86,004 votes.
Another aspirant, Abdulrahman Bashir Haske, came a distant third with 65,934 votes.
The declaration, however, immediately sparked outrage and suspicion within party circles as aggrieved members and supporters alleged that the so-called primary election existed only on paper.
