HYDERABADThe Greater Hyderabad area in the Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Ltd (TGSPDCL) recorded the highest-ever energy consumption on May 21, when it clocked 100.83 million units, out of the total energy consumption in the State recorded at 254.89 million units or 39.56% of the total consumption.According to officials of the Southern Discom, the peak load of power in the Greater Hyderabad area was also highest on May 21 at 4,766 megawatt. The previous highest peak load was recorded on May 19 at 4,748 MW and the previous highest-ever energy consumption of 100.56 MU was recorded on April 17 this year.The sizzling day-time temperature coupled with higher consumption of energy during night time had led to the record energy consumption, an official said, adding that the distribution network had withstood the demand without any hiccups indicating its preparedness to meet even higher demand.
