The UK Post Office is finally set to sign contracts that will see its reliance on Fujitsu's controversial Horizon system ending.

As reported by Computer Weekly, the Post Office has awarded technology consulting company Accenture a £322.8 million ($433.94m) contract to take over the running of the IT system that led to more than 900 wrongful convictions of subpostmasters for theft, fraud, and false accounting between 1999 and 2015 due to faulty data.

Accenture will maintain and support the IT infrastructure within the data center and assist with stabilizing the current system and migrating services to the cloud.

The Post Office published a tender calling for bids to replace the Horizon system in July 2025, split into two lots: one for data center operations, application support management, and service and system integration, and another to "transform" the Post Office's end point of sale (EPOS) technology with software and other services.
