The TDP government on Friday handed over keys of new houses constructed under the Andhra Pradesh Township and Infrastructure Development Corporation (APTIDCO) housing scheme to 96 eligible beneficiaries at Padmanabha Nagar in Visakhapatnam West Assembly constituency.Friday’s development is part of a larger government vision of constructing as many as 816 TIDCO houses at a cost of ₹71.52 crore. Visakhapatnam MP M. Sribharat and the city’s West MLA P.G.V.R Naidu (Gana Babu) handed over the keys to the beneficiaries.Handing over the keys, Mr. Sribharat stated that the NDA government’s priority is to ensure that poor families receive their houses, rather than seeking political credit over the TIDCO housing project. It is the government’s responsibility to hand over houses without causing further delay to beneficiaries who have been waiting for years to own a house, he added.Hits out at YSRCPHe alleged that the previous government intentionally stalled the completion of TIDCO houses due to political insecurity, fearing that the credit for the project would ultimately go to then former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. He pointed out that the present colours on the TIDCO houses are still the colours associated with the YSRCP party and remarked that if the present government too had political insecurity, it could have changed the colours once again. He further criticised the previous government for spending large amounts of public money on painting government buildings in party colours.‘Robust quality’Meanwhile, Mr. Naidu said that the houses were built using superior steel, concrete construction standards and equipped with facilities such as granite kitchens, tiles, and built-in cupboards. The project includes single-bedroom, double-bedroom, and smaller housing units designed according to the needs of different sections of beneficiaries.
