FIle: Senator John Udoedehe

A former Minister of State for the FCT, John James Udoedehe, has said rising poverty, unemployment and inequality informed his decision to contest the 2027 governorship election in Akwa Ibom State.

Udoedehe, who is seeking the governorship ticket of the African Democratic Congress, spoke during a media interaction at his residence in Uyo on Thursday.

The former APC National Secretary lamented what he described as worsening economic hardship in the state despite huge allocations accruing to the government.

He said, “What gives me strength and motivation to do what I’m doing is when I see the level of poverty, inequality unemployment in the state; I know I needed to do something.
