As you descend into Charing Cross Tube Station, you are transported four years into a nightmare future.
The posters lining the escalators – usually advertising beauty products and theatre productions – have been replaced by newspaper front pages with the headline: ‘The UK declares war on Russia.’
The station’s tunnels, usually bustling with commuters, have been transformed into a top secret war bunker. British Army troops wearing camouflage sit at white fold-out tables, analysing data. Three enormous screens display maps of enemy movements.
