According to the AAC, political parties should not be reduced to “mere appendages” of INEC through the imposition of restrictive timelines and controls.
The African Action Congress (AAC) has welcomed a judgment delivered by Justice M. G. Umar of the Federal High Court in Abuja, describing it as a victory for political party independence and democratic principles in Nigeria.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the National Publicity Secretary, Rex I. Elanu, the party said the ruling reaffirmed the constitutional rights of political parties to independently determine their internal processes, timetables, and democratic activities without undue interference from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
