Segilola Resources Operating Limited, operator of Nigeria’s first commercial gold mine, the Segilola Gold Mine, has emerged as one of the top winners at the maiden edition of the Solid Minerals Excellence Awards recently held in Abuja.

A statement from the firm stated that the event brought together key stakeholders across Nigeria’s solid minerals industry to recognise performance, innovation, and operational contributions within the sector, where the company was recognised for its community impact, among others.

SROL received five nominations and won three major awards, including SOMEA Gold Mining Company of the Year, SOMEA Outstanding Gold Producer of the Year (Main Category), and SOMEA Outstanding Gold Producer of the Year (Mines Inspectorate Category).

Speaking on the recognition, SROL’s Corporate Affairs Manager, Ijeoma Ohiaeri, said the awards reflect the company’s operational standards and long-term commitment to responsible mining.

“We are proud to receive these awards in recognition of our impact and efforts. However, our commitment to excellence and responsible mining goes far beyond accolades; it is deeply rooted in the company’s ethos and values.” Related News Ebola: NMA demands immediate PPE supply, retraining for health workers Lagos, Welbeck Electricity deepen partnership on workplace safety Lagos urges action on workplace safety, mental health
