Few travel debates get people more fired up than airplane seat etiquette.

Window gets the view. Aisle gets the legroom and easy bathroom access. But what does the poor person stuck in the middle get besides mild resentment?

For many travellers, there’s an unwritten rule that the middle seat earns both armrests as compensation.

Others argue armrests are first come, first served and everyone just has to negotiate the awkward elbow battle themselves.

Then there are the people who spread into everyone else’s space without shame, sparking silent in flight feuds that can last hours.
