One of our regular commenters dropped a completely non-shocking, straightforward, inconspicuous comment under an article this morning, but it jumped out at me as a really important point and topic to center an article around.
First of all, another commenter, Amos Batto, wrote: “When I look at how Elon has used his wealth in politics, I honestly would rather have BYD or Xpeng producing EVs for Americans, because at least those companies are not lobbying for the wrong kind of politics.” It’s a sentiment many EV fans share, and that’s not news. That’s one clear reason Tesla sales have fallen in the last couple of years after what looked like nonstop growth. But it was the response from Mark H that caught my attention:
“Yes, it hurts with every tweet or whatever he wishes to call it.
“Still, to save the planet, we need everyone on board. Tesla is still selling a ton of Model Y’s, and not too many are being bought by progressives.”
