Members of the All Progressives Congress in Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State on Thursday staged a peaceful protest at the party’s state secretariat in Osogbo, alleging a plot to manipulate the results of the primary election that produced the party’s candidate for the Obokun State Constituency in the 2027 general poll.

The protesters specifically accused the lawmaker representing Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Mr. Wole Oke, of attempting to replace the primary election winner with the first runner-up.

Armed with placards with inscriptions such as “Give us our mandate,” “Respect the will of the people,” and “Let people’s votes count,” the protesters said the primary election was held under a peaceful atmosphere and produced Mr. Gbenga Falope as the candidate

Speaking on behalf of the protesters, Mr. Oyewole Oyebanji maintained that the primary was held successfully, adding that Falope secured a decisive victory with 2,594 votes.
