President Bola Tinubu on Thursday congratulated the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency for dismantling what its chairman described as the largest clandestine methamphetamine laboratory ever discovered in Nigeria.
The laboratory was concealed in a forest in Ogun State and was operated by a Nigerian kingpin who imported three Mexican nationals to supervise production.
NDLEA Chairman Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (retd.) said the agency seized drugs valued at $362.9m (approximately N480 billion) on the international market.
In a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu praised the professionalism and courage of NDLEA operatives and issued a warning that the operation reflected his administration’s zero tolerance for organised crime.
