May 21 (UPI) -- Apple TV's Houston Dynamo-Los Angeles Galaxy broadcast will be the first professional sports game shot entirely on an iPhone, Apple announced Thursday.

The game, set for 10:30 p.m. EDT Saturday in Carson, Calif., will be captured on an iPhone 17 Pro. The footage will include team warmups, player introductions, in-net angles from the goals and stadium atmosphere.

"With cameras positioned throughout the venue, the broadcast will deliver the pristine video quality fans expect, alongside dynamic new perspectives that bring viewers closer to the action, made possible by the small form factor of iPhone," Apple said in a news release.

Apple TV previously used an iPhone to capture specific moments during a Boston Red Sox-Detroit Tigers MLB matchup in September. The company also used an iPhone during other broadcasts, including the 2025 MLS Cup, and plans to integrate the technology into broadcasts for Friday Night Baseball and MLS in 2026.
