Byuan, who is the sole Labour Party governorship aspirant in the state, said he had long resigned from the APC and formally withdrawn his governorship ambition under the ruling party before the publication of the list.
A Benue State governorship aspirant under the Labour Party, Dr. Mathias Byuan, has distanced himself from the ongoing governorship primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the inclusion of his name among cleared aspirants as false, misleading and unauthorised.
Byuan, who is the sole Labour Party governorship aspirant in the state, said he had long resigned from the APC and formally withdrawn his governorship ambition under the ruling party before the publication of the list.
The APC had earlier released names of cleared aspirants participating in the Benue governorship primaries across the state’s 23 local government areas, with Byuan’s name appearing among the contenders.
Reacting in a statement personally signed on Thursday and titled, “Unauthorised Circulation of my name as an APC Gubernatorial Aspirant for Benue State,” Byuan accused the APC of engaging in “mischief” by publishing his name despite his withdrawal from the party.
