Gauteng municipalities have promised to deliver proper services to their residents.
Gauteng municipalities have vowed to improve water security, address infrastructure challenges, and strengthen service delivery during submissions made to the SA Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) water inquiry.
The City of Johannesburg, Mogale City Local Municipality and Rand Water appeared before the commission this week as growing frustration over water shortages, dry taps and failing infrastructure continues to affect communities across Gauteng.
During the inquiry, officials admitted that aging infrastructure, illegal water connections, vandalism, water leaks and increasing demand are placing major pressure on the province’s water system.
Leading Johannesburg’s delegation, City Manager Dr Floyd Brink said the city was working on a turnaround plan aimed at improving service delivery and restoring public confidence.
