The Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, has approved the demobilisation of several Inspectors and rank-and-file personnel from various Police Mobile Force (PMF) squadrons across Nigeria, according to an internal police signal obtained by reporters.
The memo, referenced “CH:5660/DOPS/PMF/FHQ/ABJ/VOL.89/196” and dated May 18, 2026, was issued by the Department of Operations at Force Headquarters, Abuja, according to a document obtained by SaharaReporters.
The directive, signed on behalf of the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Operations, was addressed to Commanding Officers of Police Mobile Force (PMF) squadrons across the country, including Keffi, Ibadan, Yola, Ilorin, Abeokuta, Owerri, Port Harcourt, Ikeja, Asaba, Ado-Ekiti, Lokoja, Gusau, Zaria, Oghara, Ikorodu, Shendam, Takum, Obudu, Okene, and Ilaro.
According to the signal, the affected officers are to be demobilised from the PMF and redeployed to their respective commands on “health and compassionate grounds.”
