The Special Operations Forces of Ukraine reported that on the night of 20-21 May, its Deep Strike units, together with the Unmanned Systems Forces, struck the Rosneft oil refinery in Syzran, Russia's Samara Oblast.

Details: According to the military, a large-scale fire broke out at the facility, which has a processing capacity of up to 9 million tonnes of oil per year and is located more than 800 km from Ukraine's border.

The military noted that the Syzran refinery supplies fuel not only for civilian needs but also for Russian military aviation and military units in Russia's centre and south. Petroleum products from the facility are also exported via the Volga River and the Caspian Sea.
