The departure date for your trip is getting closer, and standing between you and your destination is an empty suitcase. Questions immediately begin to fill that space. What should I bring, and what can I leave behind? How much will actually fit? Shouldn’t I save room for souvenirs, too? The answers aren’t always simple – especially when you’re coming to Greece. Famous for its sun-drenched days and cooling evening breezes, the Greek summer often shapes our wardrobe choices on its own. To give you a little extra help, we’ve prepared a guide to what you should pack depending on where you’re heading and you’re planning to do there.
Let’s begin with the essentials. At the very top of every packing list – regardless of destination – is a comfortable pair of shoes, ideally suited for walking. Sneakers and sandals quickly become your best allies, whether you’re exploring an island or wandering through a city. Cobblestone streets, narrow alleyways and archaeological sites all demand comfort and durability. High heels are generally left aside, except for the occasional special invitation or evening event.
Close behind footwear comes the importance of choosing the right fabrics. The sun, high temperatures and long hours outdoors call for lightweight cotton and linen pieces in light shades, allowing the body to breathe and reflecting away much of the sunlight.
