Police are investigating a “threatening email” sent to Auckland Art Gallery on Thursday, in a string of threats being received in the city’s CBD.

Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki said it received a “hoax threat”.

“As a precaution, the Gallery was evacuated while emergency services cleared the building,” said Tātaki Auckland Unlimited Director of Auckland Art Gallery Dr Zara Stanhope.

The Gallery has since reopened.

Police said the “threatening email” sent to the Kitchener St premises was reported around 10.15am.
