Kingibe, a first-term senator, is seeking reelection on the platform of the ADC after defecting from the Labour Party, under which she won the 2023 senatorial election.

The senator representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Ireti Kingibe, is facing possible disqualification from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) senatorial primary after failing to appear before the party’s screening panel, SaharaReporters has learned.

Kingibe, a first-term senator, is seeking reelection on the platform of the ADC after defecting from the Labour Party, under which she won the 2023 senatorial election.

Party insiders said that the senator’s absence from the screening exercise could jeopardise her chances of securing the ADC ticket ahead of the 2027 elections.
