In a viral video obtained by SaharaReporters, Elliott alleged that his supporters were prevented from participating in the primary process across several zones in the constituency.

Lagos lawmaker, Desmond Elliott, has withdrawn from the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Surulere 1 seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly, citing alleged intimidation, coercion and suppression of his supporters.

Elliott, who currently represents Surulere 1 Constituency in the Assembly, announced his withdrawal on Wednesday amid rising tension surrounding the APC primaries in the area.

The actor-turned-politician accused some party leaders in Surulere of creating what he described as an atmosphere of political victimization and coercion aimed at forcing party members to support a preferred aspirant.

According to him, supporters of his re-election bid, including party loyalists and some local government officials, had allegedly been threatened with political consequences if they refused to align with certain interests within the party structure.
