The organisation accused Israel of attempting to secure what it described as “false recognitions” from entities lacking international recognition in order to strengthen its claim over Jerusalem.
The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation has condemned reports suggesting that the self-declared Somaliland region plans to open an embassy in occupied Jerusalem, describing the move as illegal and a violation of international law.
In a statement issued on Wednesday from Jeddah, the OIC said it viewed the reported move by the breakaway region with “grave concern and strong condemnation,” insisting that it defied international consensus and violated relevant United Nations resolutions.

“The General Secretariat considered that this illegal move comes in the context of Israel's desperate and illegitimate attempts to extract false recognitions from illegitimate and internationally unrecognised entities — including the so-called ‘Somaliland’ region — with the aim of consolidating its illegitimate and purported sovereignty over the occupied city of Al-Quds (Jerusalem),” the statement said.
