Eighteen students from Coimbatore won gold medals at the Indo-Nepal International Championship 2026 held in Nepal on May 10.The students, trained at Mohan’s Academy in Coimbatore, competed in events, including Single Stick, Double Stick, Sword Spinning, Spear Throwing, Deer Horn Throwing and Stick Fighting across categories ranging from Under-7 to Senior division. All 18 participants secured gold medals in their respective events.According to the institute, the students had earlier qualified for the international meet after performing well in district-, State- and national-level competitions organised by the School Games and Activity Development Foundation under the Fit India Movement initiative.Over 50 students from the academy participated in district- and State-level competitions, of whom 25 advanced to the national championship held in Goa on January 25. The participants won medals in events such as Single Stick, Double Stick, Swordplay, Spear Throwing, Deer Antler Techniques and Stick Fighting.Following their performance at the national level, 18 students were selected to represent the academy at the international championship in Nepal.The institute said the medal winners have now been selected to participate in the upcoming Asian championship scheduled to be held in Thailand.Mohan’s Academy has been training students in athletics and martial arts for over eight years and has trained more than 1,200 students so far.
