The State Higher Education Department has constituted three expert committees to submit recommendations on three major issues: convocation protocol and common dress code, honorary doctorates, and the syllabus.The committee, headed by former Vice-Chancellor Ambalike Hiriyanna, has been asked to study and submit recommendations on convocation protocol and common dress code’ during convocations.This issue was discussed during the recent Vice-Chancellors conclave chaired by the Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, where the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K.Shivakumar were present.There were suggestions to do away with the western robe. Kemparaju will submit recommendations on framing uniform guidelines while awarding honorary doctorates by the universities following controversies over conferring honorary doctorates to politicians and others.Syllabus committeeConsidering the suggestions by the Vice-Chancellors during the conclave to revise the syllabus for higher education, keeping the present industry needs and employment opportunities in mind, the department has constituted a committee headed by former Vice-Chancellor B.
