Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) is set to procure ‘Pothole Busters – The Road Doctor’ mobile machines to carry out road repair works in the city.In this regard, GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg viewed a demonstration by Trans Metalite India Limited of pothole repair by the machine near the Collector office with the Engineering department officials on Wednesday.Mr. Ketan Garg opined that the machine would be highly useful in carrying out road repairs within the GVMC limits in a speedy, and time-efficient manner.Chief Operating Officer of Trans Metalite India Limited, Mr. Nipun Soni, explained the process by which the ‘Potholes Busters – The Road Doctor’ undertakes immediate pothole repairs and restores the road surface. He said: "The machine heats and mixes stone aggregates and bitumen internally, cleans the damaged pothole area, and fills it evenly in line with the existing road surface.“ The machine can be operated with one driver and four workers, the GVMC Chief was informed.Mr. Garg after observing the machine’s functioning said that it has the capability to repair a pothole within approximately 20 minutes. He opined that the machine would be extremely useful during the rainy season for repairing potholes quickly.Mr. Garg directed GVMC Chief Engineer Satyanarayana Raju to ready proposals for procuring similar machines under the 15th Finance Commission funds.
