The Andhra Pradesh Government Life Insurance (APGLI) department has attributed delays in crediting of loan and claim amounts to policyholders’ accounts due to lapses by the Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) in combined Visakhapatnam district. In a press release issued on Tuesday, APGLI Joint Director M. Jhansi Lakshmi said that several DDOs had failed to raise bills on the Comprehensive Financial Management System (CFMS) despite powers being vested in them under G.O. Ms. No. 18 and G.O. Ms. No. 19 issued on February 16, 2024.She said delays in issuing policies and disbursing claims had adversely affected employees, including families of deceased staff awaiting insurance benefits. Responsibility for issues relating to such death claims rest with the concerned DDOs, she said. The Joint Director advised all DDOs to strictly follow the government orders and the Finance Department memo issued on February 24, 2025. She added that the APGLI office would soon be shifted to the first floor of the Finance Department building complex on Zilla Parishad Road to facilitate functioning under a single roof and provide convenience to retired employees.
