The Judiciary of the Islamic Republic has announced that the retributive execution sentence (Qisas) of Bahman Farzaneh, convicted of the murder of Elaheh Hosseinejad, has been carried out after being upheld by the Supreme Court. Elaheh Hosseinejad was a 24-year-old woman whose body was discovered on the desert outskirts of Tehran in early June 2025 after she went missing while returning home.

Mizan News Agency, the official media outlet of the Islamic Republic’s Judiciary, stated that the death sentence was implemented after all judicial procedures were completed and at the request of the victim’s next of kin (Oliya-e Dam).

According to reports, on the evening of May 25, 2025, Elaheh Hosseinejad boarded a passing vehicle at Azadi Square after leaving her workplace at a beauty salon and subsequently disappeared. Following an 11-day search, the driver of the vehicle, identified as Bahman Farzaneh, was arrested and later confessed to the murder. Elaheh’s body was eventually recovered on the outskirts of Tehran.

The case received widespread attention across media outlets and social networks in recent months, once again bringing the issue of women’s safety in Iran into public debate.
