Applications have been invited for admissions to the three-year certificate courses of the Government District Music School run by the State Department of Art and Culture here.The school offers courses in vocal music, nagaswaram, thavil, bharathanatyam, mridangam, violin, and Thevaram for the candidates in the age group of 12-25. Candidates should have passed Class VII for admission to vocal, Thevaram, mridangam, violin, and bharathanatyam courses. Basic literacy is enough to join courses in nadaswaram and thavil. The duration of the certificate courses is three years.The students will have to pay a annual fee of ₹350 and all students will be given a scholarship of ₹1,000 a month.
