TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Russia and China signed 20 documents in the fields of economics, energy, transportation, and international cooperation after Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping held talks in Beijing on Wednesday, May 20.As reported by ANTARA, the two leaders also adopted a joint statement on strengthening the partnership and deepening Russia-China relations, as well as a joint declaration on the formation of a multipolar world and a new model of international relations. The two countries have built a stable bilateral trade system that is protected from external pressure and global market fluctuations, Putin said at a press conference after he met with Xi.He explained that trading using the ruble and yuan helps protect economic cooperation from "external pressures" and ensures the sustainability of commercial relations between the two countries."The coordinated steps taken by Russia and China to shift settlements between them, between our countries as a whole, to national currencies have been of great significance. As a result, virtually all Russian-Chinese export-import operations are being carried out in rubles and yuan," Putin said. He also said Russia was ready to continue uninterrupted oil and gas supplies to China. Putin added that Russia's nuclear company Rosatom is completing construction of a new unit at a Chinese nuclear power plant as part of the two countries' energy cooperation. He also described the Russia-China partnership as a stabilizing factor in international affairs. Putin also highlighted the positive results of the bilateral visa-free regime, which has boosted tourism and people-to-people ties between the two countries."In 2025, more than 2 million Russians arrived in the People's Republic of China.
