Oscar “Oskido” Mdlongwa has been recognised for pioneering kwaito and creating platforms for emerging artists in South African music.
DJ, record producer, entrepreneur and kwaito pioneer, Oscar “Oskido” Mdlongwa has been bestowed by President Cyril Ramaphosa the Order of Ikhamanga in Silver.
In celebration, South African musicians celebrated Oskido's achievements by reflecting on his contributions to their careers.
In a video posted on Instagram, Black Coffee, Nhlanhla Nciza, DJ Zinhle, Kwesta and EFF leader Julius Malema praised the Kalawa Jazmee Records co-founder.
"I walk into any room knowing that I'm different. It's because I got a call sign from someone like him," says Grammy award-winning artist Black Coffee.
