The fates of a number of beloved characters have finally been confirmed in the Prime Video show's finale11:15, 20 May 2026After five seasons Prime Video hit The Boys has come to an end.‌Eric Kripke's thrilling sci-fi series explores a world where superheroes - known as supes - are treated like celebrities by mere mortals, but abuse their position behind closed doors.‌Over the course of five seasons, viewers have seen the bad behaviour from supes worsen, with the psychotic Homelander leading the charge. Throughout the fifth and final season, vigilante group The Boys have been trying to stop Homelander - who now believes himself to be God - from achieving immortality and establishing a New World Order.‌Of course as viewers know already, Homelander's father Soldier Boy helped his son get hold of the immortality-inducing serum leaving just world domination left to achieve. So how did the story end in Episode 8, and how many causalities where there along the way? A warning that major spoilers for the finale lie ahead.Oh Father‌Whether Oh Father truly believed in Homelander as the new God or whether he was just trying to save his own skin has been up for debate. However, it ultimately doesn't matter as he loses his life in the show's finale. The flashy preacher meets his demise at the hands of Mother's Milk and Hughie who pop a ball gag on him just as he's about to release his sonic scream. Their fast-thinking means Oh Father's roar goes inwards and his head explodes. The Deep‌Fans already knew The Deep's days were numbered. In the penultimate episode he was warned by a shark that all of the sea life believed him to be responsible for an oil pipe leak, and should he enter the ocean, they'll turn on him. That warning proved true. In the finale, Starlight fights The Deep and uses a blast to send him flying. He ends up in the ocean where he meets a particularly gruesome end via an octopus and its tentacles.Terror‌Thankfully there was no traumatic death for Terror. Butcher's beloved dog dies in his sleep, leaving audiences breathing a collective sigh of relief amid sobs.HomelanderThe ultimate villain of the show is indeed killed in the final - and in a fitting way too.‌It turns out that Frenchie and Butcher's attempt to recreate Soldier Boy's powers within Kimiko by repeatedly exposing her to radiation has actually worked.Kimiko, Ryan and Butcher find Homelander in the Oval Office where Kimiko uses her new ability to strip him of his powers. She also takes Ryan's and Butcher's with the force of her blast. It means for the very first time, Butcher and Homelander are on an even playing field. Now they are both mere mortals, Butcher proceeds to kill a powerless and feeble Homelander in front of the world.‌ButcherAfter killing Homelander, Butcher believes there is only one way to stop Vought from continuing on: by finally releasing the supe-killing virus. As he attempts to put the virus through the sprinkler system, he is distracted by Hughie. This gives Hughie a split second to act, and he shoots Butcher which kills him.
