The Lenovo ThinkPad X13 Gen 7 is a thin and light laptop with a starting weight of just 936 grams, or less than 2.1 pounds. First introduced in Japan in April, the laptop is expected to be available in the US this month for $1499 and up.Lenovo will offer models with a choice of Intel Core Ultra (Series 3) “Panther Lake” or AMD Ryzen AI 400 “Gorgon Point” processor options. For reference, this isn’t the first ThinkPad X13 to launch in 2026. Lenovo introduced a model with a detachable keyboard during Mobile World Congress in March. But the new model is a thin and light laptop with a clamshell design. The laptop has a 13.3 inch, 1920 x 1200 pixel IPS LCD display with a 60 Hz refresh rate and a choice of build materials: some models come with a carbon fiber reinforced polymer cover and aluminum or magnesium bottoms, while others have carbon fiber hybrid top covers and aluminum bases. The laptop has a starting weight of 953 grams (or about 2.1 pounds). And it has Lenvo’s distinctive TrackPoint system with a red pointing nub in the center of the keyboard as well as click and scroll buttons above the touchpad.AMD-powered models of the new laptop will be available with Ryen AI 5, AI 5 PRO 440, AI7 445, or AI 7 PRO 450 processor options, while Intel versions will be available with Intel core Ultra 5 332/332/335/336H or Core Ultra 7 355/356H/365 chips. All models come with 16GB or 32GB of RAM and a choice of 41 Wh or 54.7 Wh batteries, stereo speakers, support for WiFi7 and Bluetooth 5.4, and optional support for a 4G LTE or 5G wireless radio. The laptops have stereo speakers, dual microphones, and a 5MP webcam with a privacy shutter and some models also have an IR camera for Windows Hello-compatible face recognition.Models with Intel chips have an M.2 2280 slot with support for PCIe 5.0 storage, while AMD models top out at PCIe 4.0.Both versions of the laptop have two Thunderbolt 4/USB4 ports, a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A port, an HDMI 2.1 port, and a 3.5mm audio jack.A few things to note: none of the Intel models will have Intel Arc Pro graphics. And while Lenovo is positioning the ThinkPad X13 as a thin and light, but repairable laptop with customer-replaceable batteries, SSDs, and wireless modules, the laptop does have LPDDR5x memory that’s soldered to the mainboard and which cannot be replaced or upgraded.Lenovo says the upcoming laptop will also be available with support for 5G and 4G LTE networks, and offers “the signature ThinkPad keyboard feel,” with a TrackPoint system that places a pointing nub near the center of the keyboard and left and right click buttons above the touchpad.According to a note on the Lenovo Japan website, the laptop will also have a 16:10 aspect ratio display and a choice of 41 Wh or 54.7 Wh batteries… which means that while the laptop has a starting weight under 2.1 pounds, some models will likely be at least a little heavier. This article was first published April 8, 2026 and most recently updated May 15, 2026 with US pricing & availability information.
