Thousands of schools and universities in the US, Canada and Australia have seen disruptions after a hacking group compromised software development firm Infrastructure, which makes the Canvas platform used by educational institutions.
Canvas is widely used as a portal for students to submit their work, but also hosts study resources such as videos, lecture notes and other study documents.
The hack that took Canvas offline was timed during the critical end-of-year exam period, leading some universities to postpone exams.
