Delhi High Court has issued notices to former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, former deputy CM Manish Sisodia, Sanjay Singh and other AAP leaders on a suo motu contempt of court plea for allegedly making 'defamatory and vilifying' remarks against justice Swarana Kanta Sharma. A bench comprising justices Navin Chawla and Ravinder Dudeja said the proceedings have been initiated on the basis of the order dated May 14 passed by justice Sharma. "The single judge has placed reliance on the material from social media posts and other electronic and publication records. The registry is directed to preserve copies of the same and place them before this court," the bench ordered while issuing notices to Kejriwal and others, asking them to file their responses. The bench said it would appoint an amicus. The case will be heard on Aug 4. On May 14, justice Sharma held the material placed before her prima facie disclosed criminal contempt under the Contempt of Courts Act.
