The angry party members warned the APC National Working Committee (NWC) against handing Bello the senatorial ticket, claiming it could damage the party’s chances in future elections.

Scores of protesters from Kogi Central Senatorial District on Tuesday stormed the national secretariat of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja, demanding that the party leadership stop former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, from emerging as the party’s senatorial candidate for Kogi Central ahead of the 2027 elections.

The demonstrators, who gathered at the APC headquarters, accused Bello of undermining party principles and violating due process during the recently concluded APC senatorial primary election in Kogi Central.

According to the protesters, Bello failed to participate in the party’s mandatory screening exercise before the primary election.
