Europol (the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation) announced in a statement that, as part of a joint operation involving 19 countries, it targeted thousands of online contents related to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in cyberspace and referred them to digital platforms for removal or restriction.

According to the report published on May 18, the European Union Internet Referral Unit (EU IRU) at Europol led the operation. Europol stated that a total of approximately 14,200 posts, links, and web pages were identified, which, according to the agency, were being utilized for “propaganda dissemination, recruitment, and financing” linked to the IRGC. Following their identification, these contents were sent to online platforms for review and removal.

In the wake of this operation, the official account of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps on the social media network X (formerly Twitter), which has more than 150,000 followers, has been geo-blocked within the European Union. This restriction has been applied as “Withheld” and is limited to European users.

According to Europol’s statement, the targeted material included AI-generated videos praising the IRGC, fierce political messages, and retaliatory calls for revenge across multiple languages, including Persian, Arabic, English, and Spanish. The operation also encompassed networks linked to groups such as Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Houthis.
